Ocean Beach or "OB" is
one of San Diego's most beloved beaches. Those who know
about OB are passionate about this little piece of
paradise, speaking fondly of its attributes. The coastal
region of San Diego comprised of Ocean, Pacific and
Mission Beaches typifies San Diego lifestyle, laid back.
Surfers, joggers, dogs and their owners all enjoy the
sand, the water and views at Ocean Beach.
Ocean Beach has a
beautiful fishing pier that includes a restaurant with
indoor seating, outdoor tables and some of the most
stunning views of the San Diego coast. The pier is one
of the most unique piers in California. It stretches
into the water and then at the end, forms a T-shape.
Fishermen, women and children bring their poles and stay
for hours, watching their poles and occasionally pulling
something out of the water.
Ocean Beach features the
beautiful beach and several blocks of shops that include
lots of great restaurants, clothing, beach items, books
and more.
To enjoy OB on a busy
summer weekend, bring lots of patience. While parking is
free, it is at a premium. Cars sit in line,
patiently waiting for someone to leave and a spot to
open. If you are in a hurry, do not turn into the beach
parking lot. You may find yourself stuck in a line with
a 20 minute wait. Getting around the cars is not
always easy so your best bet is to just sit and enjoy
the scenery until space opens up.
