Solana Beach, a four-square mile
beach community is bounded by the Pacific Ocean to
the west, on the north by San Elijo Lagoon and the
City of Encinitas and the City of Del Mar to the
south. It is located on the northern coast of San
Diego County with major arteries Interstate 5, Highway 101, Lomas Santa Fe
Drive and Via de la Valle.
Solana Beach is bordered by the beaches of Fletcher
Cove, a river San Elijo river lagoon and a
wetlands.
Beaches include Solana Beach Fletcher Cove Park at
Lomas Santa Fe Drive. While there are lifeguard
services, there is not much sand. The picturesque
cove can be inaccessible at high tide. Off the
beach, Fletcher Cove has volleyball, shuffleboard,
basketball, showers, picnic tables and free public
parking.
Seascape Shores is located a few blocks south of
Fletcher's between condos at the 500 and 700 blocks
of South Sierra Avenue. It offers beach access with
free street parking. Beaches are open from 6 a.m. to
10 p.m.
Tide Beach Park north of Fletcher's is accessible
via stairs at Pacific Avenue and Solana Vista Drive.
There's surfing and a reef and tide pools for
snorkeling . It has lifeguard service and free
parking on nearby streets.
A
weekly Farmers' Market is held every Sunday
afternoon across from the Solana Beach train station
at Lomas Santa Fe and Cedros Avenue.
